When a guest starts over

What happens to an interrupted guest recording, and how to reactivate the link with or without keeping the data.

An interrupted or submitted guest recording is never deleted on its own — the recorded segments stay in the discussion, and you decide what happens to them when you reactivate the link.

A per-group guest link accepts one recording. After the group submits — or if the link expires mid-event — the discussion in the session view shows Needs reactivation (or Expired), and guests can no longer open the link.

A guest reports that the link stopped working. In the session view, find the group's discussion and click Reactivate same link. If the discussion already contains recorded content, the Reactivate the same guest link dialog opens. Choose Continue on the same link to keep everything. You know it worked when the badge is gone and the guest page loads again — printed QR codes keep working because the link is unchanged.

The group wants to discard its first attempt. In the same dialog, choose Start over on the same link. A red confirmation warns you: starting over permanently deletes the existing transcript and everything generated from it, and cannot be undone. Click Yes, delete and start over to proceed, or Keep the recording to go back. You know it worked when the discussion is empty and the link is active again.

You want to keep the recording but retire the old link. Choose Create new link instead. The recording is kept and a fresh link is issued. Anyone holding the old link — including printed QR codes — loses access, so hand out the new code.

The link still doesn't work after reactivating. Ask the guest to reload the page first; the old error message can stay on screen. If the problem persists — the best way to report it: in the app, open ?Send Feedback — it automatically includes where you were on the platform and lets you attach a screenshot of exactly what you see. Alternatively, use the contact form.
