The canvas: where your documents live
Understand the panel next to the chat where documents, dashboards, plans, and images open.
Everything the Co-Pilot creates — documents, dashboards, plans, and images — opens in the canvas, the panel that appears next to the chat. You keep the conversation on one side and read or edit the result on the other, without switching pages.
Opening something in the canvas
When the Co-Pilot creates or updates an item, a card for it appears in the chat. Click the card — or its Open in canvas button — and the canvas opens next to the conversation.
When you open several items, each gets its own tab in the row at the top of the canvas; click a tab to switch between them.
Closing the canvas
Click the close icon at the top of the panel. Your work is saved automatically, so nothing is lost — click the chat card again whenever you want to reopen the item.
What can open in the canvas
- Document — text written by the Co-Pilot, with citations that point back to the discussion.
- Dashboard — the themes and contributions of your discussions, updating as new material arrives.
- Plan — a step-by-step plan with a to-do list you can tick off and reorder.
- Image — a generated image you can edit and browse version by version.
- Setup blueprint — a preview of a set-up the Co-Pilot proposes, such as new discussions or invitations, before it is carried out.
The type label on each chat card tells you which one you are about to open. Other formats you ask for — slides, tables, charts, and the like — open in a simple raw view.
