You've been invited: what to expect

Recording a discussion via an invite link takes a few minutes and needs no account — open the link, agree, pass the mic check, record, submit.

You don't need an account, and the whole process takes only a few minutes: open the link, agree to the recording, pass a short microphone check, record your discussion, and submit. Your words are transcribed and personal details are anonymised according to the organisers' settings.

Step by step

  1. On a phone, tablet or laptop with a microphone, open the link — or scan the QR code. Use an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox).
  2. Read the consent notice. Continue only if everyone in your group agrees to the recording.
  1. Enter a group name — required on some links, optional on others. For example your table number; this is how organisers tell recordings apart.
  2. In the microphone check, speak normally. When the level indicator moves clearly, continue.
  3. Place the device in the middle of the group and start recording. You can pause and resume; the timer shows the running length. Don't close the tab or lock the device while recording.
  4. When you're done, stop and submit. The confirmation screen appears — you can put the device away.

What happens with your recording

After you submit, the recording is transcribed and names and contact details are anonymised according to the settings the organisers have chosen before organisers work with the content. Your group's contribution is then analysed together with all the others.

If something goes wrong

  • "Invite Expired" or "Invalid Invite" — tell the organisers; they can reactivate the link or hand you a fresh one in seconds.
  • The recording was interrupted (tab closed, battery died) — reopen the link. Depending on the setup you can continue, or the organisers reset the link for you. Your earlier audio is not discarded without a warning.
  • No microphone level — allow microphone access in the browser prompt (usually next to the address bar) and check that the right microphone is selected. After that, the level indicator moves when you speak.
  • "Browser not supported" — switch to Chrome, Safari or Edge, or ask the organisers for a prepared device.

Good to know

  • An invite link can only be used to record — you can never see other groups' recordings.
  • After submitting you can't edit the recording; corrections happen on the organisers' side in the transcript.
