Choosing a session or discussion
Understand why some invite links ask you to pick a session or discussion before recording.
Some invite links cover a whole event rather than a single group, so you pick where your recording goes before you start. If your link was created for one specific discussion, the choice never appears — you still see the welcome page, and after consenting you tap Start Microphone Check to go straight to the check.
When your link offers a choice, the welcome page shows a Choose where to record box with up to two dropdowns:
- Select session — a session is one part of the event, for example a morning round or a workshop slot.
- Select discussion — a discussion is your group's own conversation within that session.
You can't start until you've chosen. Until then the page shows a message such as "Choose a session before you start recording." If you're not sure which entry is yours, ask the organisers — discussions are usually named after tables or groups, so pick the one that matches where you're sitting.
Some links skip the discussion list and make the Group name field required instead. The name you type — your table number, for example — labels your group's discussion so the organisers can tell recordings apart later. Pick something the organisers will recognise.
Once your choice is made, tap Start Microphone Check to continue. Everything after that — the microphone check and the recording itself — works the same for every kind of link.
