Scopes: what the Co-Pilot can see
Control which discussions the Co-Pilot draws on, from a single discussion up to a whole project.
The Co-Pilot answers only from discussions inside the current scope — change the scope and the same question can get a different answer. Pick the scope deliberately before you ask.
The scope picker
In the toolbar below the message box, click the Scope chip. The menu is headed Working scope, and it takes one of two shapes depending on where you opened the chat.
If you opened the chat inside a discussion, it lists fixed levels you set in one click:
- This discussion — only the discussion you have open.
- This session — every discussion in the current session.
- This event — every discussion in the event.
- This project — every discussion in the project.
If the chat is not anchored to a discussion (for example on your projects overview), the same menu instead lets you browse: pick from Projects, then Events, then Sessions, and confirm with the Use project, Use event or Use session button.
Either way, a Saved groups block sits at the bottom. Pick discussions opens a dialog where you hand-pick individual discussions; Save as group keeps that selection for next time. Both need a project in context first — until you choose one, you see the hint "Choose a project first to load or manage saved groups."
A project is the widest scope; there is no organisation-wide scope.
Manage your saved groups
To rename, delete or reload a saved group, click Manage saved groups in the Saved groups block. It opens a page listing every group with Load, Edit saved group and Delete saved group actions, so you can keep your selections tidy and load one back into the chat with a click.
Why answers change with scope
The scope is the Co-Pilot's entire evidence base. Ask "What were the biggest concerns?" in This discussion and you get one conversation's concerns; ask the same in This project and the answer weighs every discussion in the project. If an answer seems to miss voices you know exist, check the scope first — those discussions are probably outside it.
One more thing changes with size: selections beyond roughly a hundred discussions are prepared before the Co-Pilot can start — a one-time wait with a live progress bar — and are then analysed through emergent themes. Switch scope mid-conversation
You can pick a new scope at any time. If the chat already has messages, a dialog asks how to continue:
- New task — start a clean chat for the new scope. Choose this for a new question.
- Keep conversation — keep the thread and continue with the new scope.
One limit: a chat that started inside a discussion stays anchored to it. You can widen its scope to that discussion's session, event, or project, but not switch to unrelated discussions — start a new chat for those.
