Sessions and session formats
Create a session inside an event, set its times, and pick the right format.
A session is one block within an event — you create it on the event page with New session, give it start and end times, and pick a format. The format is a label: it shows on the session card and lets you filter sessions. It does not change how recording or analysis works.
Create a session
- On the event page, click New session.
- Enter a Session name.
- Pick a Start time and an End time. Both must fall within the event's dates, which are shown under the fields.
- Under Format, pick the option that matches how the block is run.
- Optional: under Discussion groups, enter a number (up to 50) — deliberAIde immediately creates that many discussions, each with its own guest invite link.
- Click Create session. The session appears as a card on the event page.
The formats
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| Plenary | everyone together in one room |
| Breakout | parallel small-group tables |
| Workshop | hands-on, collaborative work |
| Panel | panelists share perspectives and answer questions |
| Fishbowl | a rotating inner circle of speakers |
| World Café | rotating small-group rounds |
| Other | anything else — type your own label in the field that appears |
Panel, Fishbowl and World Café are saved as Other with your chosen label, so when you later edit the session its format shows as Other.
When you edit an existing session (gear icon → Edit session), a few more options are available: Pairs, Small group, Presentation and Q&A.
Changing times or format later
Open the session, click the gear icon and choose Edit session. If new times fall outside the event's dates, deliberAIde rejects them — widen the event's dates first via Edit event.
